Can Tho International Airport is an international trading gateway for Cuu Long Province and the surrounding Me Kong Delta region. The socio-economic developments of Cuu Long Delta and the growth of air transportation at Can Tho International Airport have a close and integrated connection, encouraging synergy and more speed in the development process. Can Tho International Airport is 8 kilometers away from the center of Can Tho City to the Northwest. The current carrying capacity of the airport has reached 2.4 million passengers per year.
Can Tho Airport is a brand new modern civil airbase that was opened at the beginning of 2011. The airport was originally an abandoned military airbase in Binh Thuy, Can Tho. It is also called Tra Noc Airport due to the close distance to Tra Noc territory.
Can Tho Airport has two floors with two main areas: the right flank from the main entrance is used for domestic departure and arrivals; whereas the left flank is for international flights.
At present, Can Tho Airport mostly hosts is mostly used domestic flights to and from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City or Phu Quoc (operated by Vietnam Airlines) and Con Dao (by VASCO Airlines). In the foreseeable future, more flights are scheduled to run between Can Tho and other major destinations such as Da Lat, Da Nang, Hue and Vinh.
Thanks to its latest renovation from 2006 to 2011, services for passengers in this airport is plentiful, from cafeteria, souvenirs or currency exchange to hotel booking and tourism information.
From Can Tho Airport to city center
Shuttle to city center runs as flights from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City lands, and tickets can be purchased after you collect your luggage. You can choose among different types of vehicle (4 – 30 seats) to suit your demand at a reasonable price.
Taxies will also be waiting for landing passengers right in front of the airbase’ main entrance.
